Scoring a century in a One Day International is what a batsman wants the most on the field. But cricket has transformed a lot over the years in relation to the approach of batting, bowling, fielding, rules, fitness and so on. However, in the later years, players such as Sanath Jayasuriya, Shahid Afridi, and Virender Sehwag have changed the batting style and the next-generation and contemporary batters have taken inspiration from them. They modified the whole approach towards batting.
Denis Amiss, the former English cricketer, scored the first century ever in 1972 while playing against Australia at Old Trafford. It came at a slow and steady pace. His innings consisted of 134 balls but the pace at which modern cricketers hit a century has considerably increased.
