Topley currently owns the best bowling statistics by a bowler in an ODI game at Lord's. Shaheen Afridi of Pakistan held the previous record, recording 6/35 against Bangladesh during the 2019 World Cup. It's interesting to note that this was Topley's first performance at the Home of Cricket.

Other notable records scripted by Topley

Profile

Reece Topley, a tall, lean left-arm pacer who has spent more time off the field than on it, first made headlines for his flawless bowling at a very young age. He has represented England in cricket's One-Day and Twenty-20 formats, but injuries have prevented him from playing for too long.

At 6 feet 7 inches tall, Topley, like his father Donald Topley, began his career with Essex. In his first three four-day matches, he took 14 wickets, including five-wicket hauls against Middlesex and Kent. The young man was then chosen for the 2012 Under 19 World Cup in Australia, where he finished with the most wickets, 19 at an average of about 9.

When Topley picked up 80 wickets in all forms for Essex in the 2013 season, he was added to England's Performance Programme due to the developing nature of his career. However, the first injury occurred around this period, and he could not join the England Lions team for the trip to Sri Lanka. Topley was chosen for the England ODI and T20 squad against Australia in 2015 after becoming fully fit and back in his stride. In only his second game with Pakistan after making his debut in Manchester, he went 3 for 26. Topley finished with 10 wickets in five games during his first complete series in South Africa, but that was the last match he played for England.

Essex could not afford the injury-prone bowler at the time, and he too desired more attention than he was receiving with the county team. Both agreed to part ways, and he signed with Hampshire, a team that was reliable in the game's shorter formats. He was forced to miss the entire 2016 season, though, after a Boyd Rankin bouncer broke a bone in his right hand while he was playing against Warwickshire. The next year, he could only bowl 112 overs across the three forms due to a back stress fracture, which also hampered his appearances for Hampshire.

Reece Topley departed Hampshire in October 2018 after agreeing to separate ways with the team and the player. For more such interesting videos about your favorite player, keep watching!
